Backed is a commercial finance introducer. We arrange business-purpose finance by referring applications to our lending partner. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. What we collect

Application details — your name, email, mobile number, business name, ABN, business structure, trading address, the names of the business’s directors, time in business, industry, approximate monthly revenue, the funding amount and term you request, its purpose, and any existing finance facilities you tell us about.
Bank statement data — if you proceed, you share up to 12 months of business bank statements through a secure, read-only retrieval service operated by illion (BankStatements). We receive the resulting statement reports. We never receive your banking passwords and no one can transact on your accounts through this process.
Technical data — basic website analytics and, where advertising measurement is active, cookie or pixel data (see section 6).

2. How we use it

To assess and package your application and refer it to our lending partner for credit assessment;
To communicate with you about your application (we communicate by email);
To maintain our records, meet legal obligations, and improve our service;
With your consent, to tell you about relevant services. You can opt out at any time by replying to any email.

We arrange business-purpose finance only and do not provide or arrange consumer credit.

3. Who we share it with

Our lending partner (Wayflyer and its related entities) — to assess and, if approved, fund your application. Wayflyer is a global company and your information may be processed by its overseas offices, including in Ireland and the United States, under its own privacy practices.
illion (BankStatements) — the Australian bank-data service that facilitates your statement sharing.
Service providers — IT, hosting and email providers (for example Google Workspace and our website host) that store data on our behalf.
Regulators or others where the law requires it.

We do not sell your information. We are paid a commission by the lender if your application is funded; your information is only ever disclosed to enable your application, and this disclosure is why we treat ourselves as fully covered by the Privacy Act.

4. How we hold and protect it

Your information is held in access-controlled systems (Google Workspace and our secured records). Statement retrieval is encrypted and read-only. We keep application records only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal record-keeping obligations, then delete or de-identify them.

5. Credit checks

Submitting an application to Backed does not involve a credit enquiry by us. Our lending partner conducts its own assessment, which is governed by its terms, disclosed to you before you accept any offer.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand how visitors find and use the site, so we can improve it. These include Microsoft Clarity (which records anonymised session activity such as clicks, scrolling and page navigation, with text entered into form fields masked), Google Analytics, and advertising pixels such as the Meta pixel where advertising measurement is active.

These tools collect device and usage information. They do not capture the contents of your application fields or your bank statement data. You can limit cookies in your browser settings, and Microsoft's privacy practices for Clarity are described at privacy.microsoft.com.

7. Access, correction and complaints

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing privacy@getbacked.com.au. We respond within a reasonable time.

If you have a privacy concern, email us first and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives at this page, with the date above.
